MPIC 1.0 Now Generally Available

Post by Gavin Walker » Fri Mar 15, 2013 11:22 am

McKesson Practice Interface Center (MPIC) 1.0 is Now Generally Available

We are happy to announce that the McKesson Practice Interface Center (MPIC) 1.0 is now GA for Medisoft® Clinical and Lytec® MD.

With the release of MPIC 1.0, McKesson provides users and IT organizations with a new way of interfacing between the EMR and PM portions of Medisoft Clinical and Lytec MD.

Based on customer feedback, McKesson developed MPIC 1.0 as an interface engine that:
  • Replaces Communications Manager (CM) (to disable CM, see document attached in File Attachments at the bottom of this page)
    Runs without user intervention
Does not require an active desktop application
MPIC 1.0 will also simplify troubleshooting and maintaining complicated interfaces.

Note: MPIC 1.0 requires Medisoft Clinical v18 or Lytec MD 2013.

The release of MPIC 1.0 is the culmination of a community effort over the last year.

Can mpic be used with or configured for other EMRs, so the mpic can send HL7 text message into a predefied folder from where EMR can pickup message just like communication manager before.

Yes, in fact in the EMR used to work with Communication Manager before, it can work with MPIC. Here is more information about MPIC.

I see MPICv2 is out. My question to Gavin is can MPIC work to send Medisoft HL7 demographics and office hours data to Medinotes? I know, Medinotes is old and no longer supported, but I'm still using it for archiving multimedia files.

Yes, MPIC v2 can be used with Medisoft v19 to send demographics to Medinotes. You will probably need to work with a Medisoft re-seller who can configure this for you. We have information about MPIC v2 on our website.

Based on customer feedback, McKesson developed MPIC 1.0 as an interface engine that:
• Replaces Communications Manager (CM) (to disable CM, see document attached in File Attachments at the bottom of this page)
• Runs without user intervention
• Does not require an active desktop application
Sorry, but I cannot seem to find a file attachment at the bottom of the page. I would like to disable the error message from the uninstalled CM.

We just installed MPIC 2.2, is there a way to automate it's startup when the server is rebooted?

Thanks

The links for MPIC v1.0 were out of date, so I removed them.

MPIC v2.2 should run as a service automatically when the machine is booted up.

Thanks Gavin. But specifically, I was looking for the instructions to remove Communications Manager/Messenger from starting up with the server. I get the annoying message that CM cannot start and would like to not see it on boot up. Would you be so kind as to direct me to documentation on how to remove CM from trying to auto-start on boot? Many thanks for your helpful information thus far.

Depending on your version of Windows there is probably a shortcut to HL7Messagging.exe in your start-up folder on your Windows Start menu. Try deleting that. Also, do you have a program installed called WatchDog?
