CCI Edits for 97140

Post by EHCS » Mon Oct 16, 2017 3:42 pm

I am getting a claim edit error saying 97140 has a modifier error. There is no modifier required for a 97140 when billed with a 97110. It errors out whether I put the mod 59 on or take it off. I don't know what it wants. I don't want to take all the cci edits off all my claims but It won't let me override this and I don't know what to do besides disable it completely.

I have another ticket open about the NCCI Edits. They don't work--it's that simple. Check my other info in the other ticket.

Gavin, can you speak with eMDs about this? Clearly they messed up somehow. EHCS is correct that no modifier is needed when billing 97110 and 97140 together....just like I am correct about all of the errors being returned on claims I am creating (for example, when I DO list a 59 modifier on a 97140 when billed with a 98940 or when I do list a 25 modifier on a 99214 when being billed with other codes).

Basically, the CCI Edits are useless. Unfortunately, EHCS, best advise is to turn off all of the CCI Edits until it is fixed.

Steve, I did see that. I wondered if it is a Revenue manager issue. I thought maybe I was going crazy! LOL I bill for Chiro's and PT's and it is really creating a mess with my claims! I am also getting the error on 98941....when billing a 97140 with a 98941 it requires a mod 59 on the 97140 but NOT the 98941, yet the 98941 is getting the error. I also get an error when billling 99213 25 with a 98941 (completely appropriate, but got an error on the 99213 saying it wasn't payable as coded). It clearly is an issue with cci edits and chiro/pt codes.

I agree...I posted this point over the weekend in the following topic: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4142. I also bill for a lot of chiros and PTs...and the CCI Edits now are basically useless as they are 100% wrong.

Hey, Gavin:

Any update about this topic? Clearly it's an error that has to be fixed by eMDs.

In the Practice Information of Medisoft, make sure you have Chiropractic type selected instead of Medical.
