'All other users must exit' backup problem

'All other users must exit' backup problem

I have been trying to run the backup for our v12 Medisoft and I get the error 'All other users must exit'. No other users are logged in at the time, in fact the other computers are turned off.
Any ideas about what I can do to get the backup running again?

There are numerous causes of this error. Interface software that you might be running on your computer or the server might be causing the problem. Make sure you don't have Communication Manager, X-Link, or Lab Connect (to name a few possible culprits) running somewhere.

We don't have any kind of interfacing software at this time. We haven't implemented any kind of EHR/EMR.
Is there anything else that an interface is used for?

Sometimes following the steps in this knowledgbase article can resolve this issue.

I found something that worked: I was able to run the backup from a different computer, connected on the network to the same backup harddrive.
Today I'll try to run from the original computer and see what happens.
