Clearing house transmissions stall

This problem may have been addressed before. Surely we are not the only ones who have encountered frozen transmissions to the clearing house (Relay Health) of electronic claims.

Typically, after an hour or two of smooth transmissions of claims the system freezes, just showing "wait while sending" or "wait while retrieving files." We sit and wait for something to happen. Nothing does. So we cancel the transmission. Then we get locked out. We have to wait an hour or more before we can resume transmitting claims. The error message says "another user is accessing the file." There is no other user. I suspect the system thinks our aborted transmission is a different user.

If we transmit claims one or two at a time and wait for each one to clear, then they will go through. But if we try to send three or four claims close together, the system freezes and locks us out for an hour.

Any thoughts? Relay Health is no help.

I am not sure what causes this, but it seems that the whole issue can be avoided by sending one batch of claims at the end of the day. It should be less labor intensive to do it this way too.
