Advantage Database Server 64-bit installation

Post by DocVPM » Sat Dec 11, 2010 2:51 pm

Good Afternoon,
We are attempting to upgrade to a new physical server. The old one was an old XP machine and this one is a real Dell Server running quad-core processors and 64-bit 2008 server. We had no issues installing Medisoft v14sp2 or OfficeHours Professional Network v14sp2 but the advantage server did not install - installation crapped saying we needed 64-bit.

So following a link you provided (thank you) we downloaded the version 9 64-bit. However, our codes are not letting us install. Is this a typical thing? Would the code be different between 32 and 64 bit versions?

Also we tried requesting a "trial" code just to get past this install issue. Is there a way for us to convert the trial to the real using the codes we have?

Also for reference, we still have the old system running...we have to until we get the new one running. So if there is some way to get the code off the old machine if some way we can convert the trial to a real copying files or setting registry entries, we can do that.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Advantage v8 32-bit should install and run on 64-bit Windows. Although Advantage will install and run just fine, you will run into trouble if you try to run Medisoft v14 on 64-bit Windows. You should either upgrade your Medisoft or install and run it on Windows 2008 32-bit on the server using Hyper-V.
