error code 0068e986 in module 'mw.exe'. read of address 04bc

Post by ohdoc » Mon Nov 29, 2010 11:23 am

Access violation at address 0068e986 in module 'mw.exe'. read of address 04bc

Anybody know the remedy to avoid this error???

I did determine that their is a file conflict..The bin file contains file axcws32.dll (version 7,10,0,0) which is older then ace32.dll ((version 8,00,0,8) When I attempt to file maintence..A error message says I must have both above dll files with the same dates for file maintence to work. I am having trouble locating axc file of the newer version. I expect if I replaced it with a newer one file maintinance would fuction. Anyone know that this is right??? I do appreciate all the help. Bob

I would uninstall all your previous Medisoft and then delete the Medisoft\Bin folder. Also, uninstall anything related to Advantage. Then reinstall Medisoft with the latest service pack for your version of Medisoft. Sometimes old Advantage files from previous versions of Medisoft can hang around and cause data issues.

The problem with uninstalling is I would lose files of all the patients. Version 12 is installed with the problems. I would like to purchase the latest version and hope it will have the ability to retrive the patient files from the version 12. I don't know if the new version can do this but my thought is if it can..it may not, do to the corrupted state version 12. Do you know a logical course of action to incorporate the old files without many hours of retyping the data. Thanks, Bob I do appreciate all your help

Uninstalling does not delete any data. You have an Advantage v7 file and Medisoft v12 uses Advantage v8. You probably have some file left over from a previous version of Medisoft.

Gavin, Thanks again for the help...Problems in the computer may cause me to replace the entire unit or reimage it to factory state. The files that include the patient info, can they be copied to a flash drive and be reinstalled in a fresh computer so the new version can include them. I attempted to copy the files in case of a total crash and found some files were corrupted. This happened when I put the old Medisoft program into a similar computer also running XP. I thought I determined the correct files but when I attempted to incorperate them from flashdrive into the new computer I got an error message stating some files were corrupted. Thanks, Bob

Yes, the Medidata folder can be copied to the new computer, but you say there is corruption. A backup is the only way to "fix" a file corruption. You might be able to work with a VAR to delete the corrupt portions of your files leaving you with at least some of your data. Simply upgrading your Medisoft will not fix corrupt data.

the Medisoft Data file in "C" (but not program files) is the folder I copied and attempted to replace as I mentioned would not copy due to file problems. Maybe the files that would not copy are the corrupted files and they could be alliminated and nearly complete inventory of patients. Is it likely that the corrupted files are individual patients? Thanks, Bob

I believe you will need to work with a Medisoft Value Added Reseller (VAR). If the files in C:\Medidata will not copy due to file corruption then you will be left with an incomplete dataset that will need to be repaired. It is impossible to say how much of the data is recoverable without look at it. With this kind of file corruption, it does not surprise me that the Medisoft Backup function doesn't work either.

I determined that the mwat.dll file won't copy in the created file for patiances . Apparently there a 4 versions in diiferance place within c medidata, and only one is corrupted. I wonder if all versions of this file should be the same which I can do..or replace theculprit with any one that are not corrupted with good results. The program is in use now so I can't try it, but do you know anything about this?? and whether this could be causing the problem. There are a ton of adt files with a mr preface within the file created file, are these the patiances?

It is ok to copy MWATT.DLL from a known good source of Medisoft data that is the same version as yours. You could even add the tutorial database from your copy of Medisoft and confirm that the tutorial database works. Then copy Tutor\MWATT.DLL to your practice folder. If that is the only corrupt file you have, then you will be back in business.
