Medisoft doesn't start in Windows 7 64bit

Post by Jason York » Tue Aug 24, 2010 3:23 pm

The below security update for Windows 7 64bit computers will sometimes cause Medisoft not to start properly:
  • Security Update for .NET Framework 3.5.1 on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB983590)
    Published on 8/10/2010
If your Medisoft is not starting correctly on your Windows 7 machine, follow the steps below to find and remove this security update.
  • 1. Click on your Start menu, right-click Computer, and click on Properties.
    2. On the bottom left of the System screen, click on Windows Update.
    3. On the bottom left of the Windows Update screen, click on Installed Updates.
    4. Scroll through the list of installed updates until you find the group titled Microsoft Windows.
    5. Search through the Microsoft Windows group for an update named Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB983590). This update will have an Installed On date between 8/10/2010 and the current date.
    6. If you find the update, then right-click on it and click Uninstall.
    7. Reboot your computer.
    8. Once your computer has been rebooted, go back into the Windows Update screen (see steps 1 and 2).
    9. In the top left of the Windows Update screen, select Check for updates.
    10. Once Windows has finished checking for updates, it will display a link saying "[number] important updates are available". Click on this link.
    11. Search through the list for an update titled "Security Update for .NET Framework 3.5.1 on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB983590)". Right-click on this update and select Hide Update.
    12. Try launching Medisoft. It should now start correctly.
This fix is known to be effective for both versions 15 and 16, however it is also likely to work with some older versions of Medisoft. If this doesn't fix your issue, please feel free to contact us for support.
