Medisoft V16 SP1 install hangs part way through

On some computers, the Medisoft V16 SP1 install (available via http://www.medtechsys.net/medisoft/service-packs/) doesn't complete successfully. Part way through the install it can hang, showing just the installer background with no progress windows. In order to progress through the rest of the install, you can do the following:

• 1. Start up the Windows task manager (via ctrl-alt-del)
  2. Go to the Processes tab
  3. Scroll through the list of processes until you find xcopy.exe (it may display as x-copy.exe)
  4. Right-click xcopy.exe and select End Process. You may need to do this a total of two times before the install continues

At this point, the install should continue and complete successfully.
