NDC Code

I never bill for an drug code, but I'm having claims reject electronically saying Invalid NDC Code, must be 11 alpha numeric. But I have the NDC code as 10 digits (5045856401) and that's a valid NDC Code.

And the line from the EDI Claim reads:

LIN**N4*5045856401~

What am I doing wrong? Should I have a leading zero??
