ANSI 824 files

Post by mbpros » Thu Jun 28, 2018 11:38 am

OH Medicaid provides ANSI 824 files back to provide info about claims that may have rejected. The problem is that RM cannot interpret the 824s. I have no problem with RM with 277s, 835s, 999s and text files, but the 824s cause an error in RM.

I highly doubt eMDs will fix the issue so do you know of any standalone program or web-based program that can interpret 824s?

I don't know of anything. I see ANSI 824 is an application advice. What is in it that you need to see?

If you use RM to try to open the ANSI 824, you get an error message saying something like RM cannot read the file. I've seen this before from other payers, not just from OH Medicaid. Fortunately not many payers use 824s; most use 277s....But I need to be able to read the 824s so I know if claims reject.

Well, a custom iGuide could probably be built. Call it a "277" in RM. That would take quite a few hours to build though. If you use a clearinghouse, they can probably convert to a 277 for you.
