Expendable files

Post by Jilda13 » Sat Oct 10, 2009 2:33 pm

Relay Health generates huge quantities of files in the process of accepting and reporting back on claims submitted. They threaten to suffocate the system. Our attempts in the past to reduce their numbers have occasionally cost us dearly with locked up systems, lost claims, etc. and etc. Thankfully, we have been able to recover using our daily backups (Windows backups, not Medisoft backups, which were the first victims of too many files).

All these files have various extensions. Can you advise us on just which files by extension we can remove to clear out the clutter without wrecking the system?

Hi, I usually delete these files by date. Anything more than a year old gets deleted. Any time you get more than 2,000 files Medisoft will start to have problems - especially if you are on anything older than v14 sp2.

Thank you. That helps a whole lot. But are there any extensions that should not be deleted regardless of age?

Anything that is downloaded in the RelayHealth folder can be deleted when you are done processing it. You probably won't need it after a year has passed.
