Problem installing CIMO files from v17 to v18 on my computer

Post by caramel25 » Wed Jul 20, 2016 2:47 pm

I have Medisoft Avdvanced v18 on my computer. At school, I'm studying with v17 and I would like to have that database installed into my version. I have found those specific files thanks to my CIMOe8 textbook but the website does not show any CIMO files for my version. Is there a way to install the files that I got into v18?? Thanks!!!

To copy the practice just create a backup on the v17. Then create a blank practice in 18. Restore the backup to the blank practice in 18.

Any chance that you could explain to me how to make the back up? Do you mean, create a mediData folder for v17 next to my existing v18 MediData folder???

I already made my zip MedisoftReportsData zip. Now, should I back up the data at school, using the same process? Or do I get the data(to be restored) by running the CIMO8e zip file that my textbook provides on its website? Thanks in advance!!!!

Inside of Medisoft v17, make a backup. You will end up with a .MBK file. Take that file to the computer that has Medisoft v18 on it and create a blank new database and restore the .MBK file into it using Medisoft v18.

I did what you told me to do but it ended up telling me that my version did not support conversion.

Do you have the demo version of Medisoft v18 installed? That only supports a maximum of 24 patients in the database.

That is correct. I have v18. Even if my version only supports 24 patients, can I still create a ?new practice with compatibility for v17?

Yes. It won't be backwards compatible with v17, but it will auto-convert a v17 backup up to v18.

I was able to do it, finally. How do I make sure that my other computer is in the same state. Do I just copy that folder over? Thanks!!
