Unable to update Revenue Managment

Post by prosete » Sun May 29, 2016 8:14 am

For first time since RM was introduced, I find I'm unable to update it.
Using MS v19 SP1 (19.1.3.38)
Current RM in use: v3.1914.15293.382
New RM version I'm trying to install: v3.1914.16116.394

I can download it each time but whenever I try to install it, I get the same message:
Cannot delete target file
C:\Medisoft\BIN\RCM\CLibrary.dll

Current CLibrary.dll version I have is from 10/2015

My ..RCM\Backup\ folder contains all previously updated CLibrary.dll's, now assigned as .bak

I can download and install without problems the Claims Editor Update Client

Any suggestions?

Not only can't I update RM but I can't even "process" Reports by going to Activities/Revenue Management Reports -- nothing comes up. But when I go to Activities/Revenue Management only, the customary screen pops up that allows me to select "Process" Reports but still nothing works. I did re-send an existing claim and that seemed to work OK.

Is his related to my original problem?

Is this a Network Pro version of Medisoft?

Double check that your AntiVirus did not block any files or quarantine anything. Also add an exception for C:\Medisoft. Last week had a similar issue and AV blocked it.

No blocking by my AV. Already includes exception for MS along with other apps. I even disabled it and closed it down to see if that had an effect but still ended up with the...

Cannot delete target file
C:\Medisoft\BIN\RCM\CLibrary.dl

...and inability to open Revenue Management Reports under Acivities tab. Still can create, process and transmit open Ready To Send claims, though, just not update RM at all.

Is there a way to install the latest RM version from anywhere or do I have to revert to reinstalling the entire program, MS v19 SP1, the hot fix, and accompanying RM, then do the updates to it?

Try Right-Clicking your Medisoft icon and select Run As Administrator and see if that helps.

Problem solved!! Re: Unable to update Revenue Managment

I had done that (Run As Admin) but it didn't make a difference but...

Here's what I did to fix it (so far so good):

Windows Task Manager showed Revenue Manager Reports, patch exe, and Revenue Manager running in the background under both Processes and Services. I just can't remember exactly which files or apps were active under which locations. I then deleted them all, searched for more traces of any RM file anywhere in the background, then ran the <patch.exe> directly from the C:\Medisoft\BIN\RCM folder, where it had been downloaded. That did the trick! It ran and installed the new RM version successfully.

What IO don't know is iof all these RM related files are supposed to remain active when both Medisoft and RM are closed. Or if they are to remain active in the background, whey would they interfere with updating RM and not the Claims Editor Update.
