Revenue Management - adding a suffix to tax ID

Horizon BCBS requires I bill with the U suffix. Is it possible to add the suffix to my Tax ID when submitting claims electronically?

Usually payers can take NPI #. Do you have regs from the payer that show how to bill this? It sounds you need a custom i-Guide since tax-ids do not contain alpha characters.

Would it work if I created another receiver just for my Horizon claims & added the suffix to the Tax ID in sender ID (ISA06), application sender code (GS02) & submitter primary ID (1000A NM109). The clearinghouse I use is MD OnLine - Ability, I create the claims in revenue management then go to the MD OnLine - Ability website & upload the file.

There is a difference between tax id and sender id they are 2 different fields within ANSI 5010. Are you trying to send claims direct to BCBS or are you using a clearinghouse? If sending direct, then you'll need to request a Companion Guide from the insurance carrier to answer this one.

Horizon no longer requires the legacy provider number (with the suffix). They used to require it, but no longer do. Having said that, Horizon has had some issues with some providers where they do not properly process claims based upon the rendering provider's NPI. So, if you want to use the legacy number with U suffix, go to the Provider list, edit the provider, click on the Provider IDs tab, and add a new entry....Make sure you list your Tax ID # and your NPI...THEN under legacy identifier 1 enter your Tax ID followed by U....and in the drop-down list select the G2 qualifier.

I have no idea what Revenue Management is, or how to use it! I opened it downloaded and followed the prompts and its asking for a password I never created This is very confusing for me, i'm unable to bill

You will likely need to work with a McKesson re-seller who can set this up for you. We currently charge $150 to setup Revenue Management. If you want to tackle this yourself, private message me your email address along with whether you are using Medisoft or Lytec, and I will send over the user manual.

I finally found the regs for this. This does not go in the tax id field. You put it in as a legacy id with a qualifier of G2 in your provider ids/practice ids grid. Make sure the receive in Revenue Management is setup to send legacy ids.
