Weren't you the one having trouble with Chrome earlier? Stop Chrome and any programs in your system tray until Medisoft starts up. The next thing to try is Windows Updates - especially anything related to .NET.

What version and service pack of Medisoft and what version and service pack of Windows do you have?

Chrome may also cause the problem but I have had the same experience with MS since about v10, way before Chrome and many of the culpable AV apps came along.

In my case, MAPA.EXE will loop endlessly, showing as "Not Responding" on the Task Manager. Only a complete re-boot of my PC will clear it up. A couple of days ago it happened about 3 times on the same morning and usually occurs in a random manner (or, at least, seemingly random). It would be a major task just to try and find out what other apps I have running in the background might interfere from time to time (none, other than my current AV and other apps deemed 'necessary' for my PC to run). SO I just re-boot whenever this happens. I cannot replicate the problem. It just happens.

You can reinstall Windows and then install Medisoft and confirm it works. Then reinstall each of your other programs one at a time and test Medisoft after each install. Hopefully then, you will discover which program is in conflict with Medisoft.

I've had several PC upgrades since v10 and each time I do a new OS install, the first program I install is MS. Since the problem does not occur 100% of the time but, rather, is inconsistent (maybe 20% to 30%), it would take a tremendous amount of time to install MS first and all my apps, one at a time, as I wait to see if that next app I install is the culprit. It can take several days for the problem to occur, while at other times it can happen several times in a row, as was the case last weekend.

The fact that it's been happening, in my case, since v10, and it happens regardless of the OS I use (Win 95, XP Pro, Vista, Win 7 Ultimate), and w/o Chrome, and...with a variety of AV apps I've gone thru since v10, something tells me it's amjor MS bug that has not been addressed by McKesson.

Again, as annoying as it is, because I also have to re-set all the menu icons I prefer to use (they are all reset to default after backing out thru Task Manager or re-booting), I just re-boot each time it happens. Pain.
