Re: Exclusive Event: Medisoft V16 New Features Webinar
There are some major changes in Version 16
• The PINs Table is removed
• The facilities are removed from the Address Table
• NPI, CLIA, Taxonomy, etc. will be handled in a new grid
The conversion will take the PINs, NPI numbers, etc. and put them in a grid. Someone will have to review the grid and change it to match the requirements of the practice. Also, any HCFA forms that have been modified will have to be changed to point to the new NPI numbers, etc.
It looks to me that conversions to V16 will take about an hour of data manipulation after conversion for a small practice.
These changes are necessary for 5010.
Most carriers no longer require PINs or group IDs, just NPI numbers. You will save a lot of time if you delete the unnecessary PINs and Group IDs in your Pins table before the conversion to V16.
Most users will need a good VAR to help with this conversion.
Does this sound correct?
When you or they state "grid", is that meaning an ADS table?
Or would that imply a "table view" of columnar data "joined" from multiple tables?

Re: Exclusive Event: Medisoft V16 New Features Webinar
It is kind of a half true when you say the new grids are required for ANSI 5010. First, it looks like ANSI 5010 will be a Medisoft v17 if everything goes according to the current calendar. If you are billing in an ANSI 4010 format, you'll be just fine to wait until Medisoft v17. It is more correct to say that the new grids are the way they should have been implemented on ANSI 4010. The idea of the new grid is to setup your provider once and then configure the PINs for that provider so they go to the payer the way they need to go. For example many providers need the group NPI in box 33 but then one oddball payer such as Medicaid requires the individual NPI in box 33. Well, this requires you to setup the provider twice to get your billing right on Medisoft v15. That should be fixed on Medisoft v16.
With that said, we are running a 40% discount if you pre-order Medisoft v16 now. This will probably be the best deal on Medisoft this year.
As far as how this is implemented in the data structure, I am not sure. My guess is there will be a new MWPINS table.
Here is the list of Flexible Grid changes at a glance
- Pin Matrix in Insurance/Provider windows is gone. Replaced with New Flexible Grids.
New Flexible Grids are in Providers, Practice, Referring and Facility.
New Facility List.
All Claim generations start with Provider ID grid.
Create just one generic grid then for each individual insurance/class if needed.
Edi Receivers no longer determine group or individual submissions.
Practice window holds group NPI, no longer in provider class
Taxonomy utility is gone.
Converted practices will require changes to grids.
Converted Custom CMS/UB04 formats will require adjustments.
