How to work/post/report Denials?

Post by tonymurrieta » Thu Nov 02, 2017 11:48 am

We are using Medisoft Version 20 and cant seem to figure out whats the proper way to post Denials and get reports about whats being denied. All we are doing right now for denials is putting in Notes on the Dates. We saw the system tries to post 0.00 pays as denials, but all its doing is sending it to the next payer/responsibility and marking it complete. Then we see a lot of pt payments go out or secondaries due to 0.00 being posted as denials. So we stopped that but still haven't figured out a proper way for reporting. Can you assist with whatever you can. Thank you!

What was the reason for the denial?

Well actually any denial. Since I don't think leaving a Note is the proper way to post a denial in the system. but for example denial, Expenses incurred after coverage terminated, or Svc/equip/Drug is not covered, Missing info or EOB, etc...

Well, for a non-coverage, you should probably enter a $0.00 payment from the insurance, apply it, and mark it complete. Missing info you should add the missing information and resubmit the claim.

So would this be a cashposting department responsibility or AR's? What im trying to say is can cash posting do anything when they received them in there deposits and they are posting? or just hand them over to AR to add what they denied for and resubmit? Also how can I get a report of the type of denials we are getting?

If you setup different adjustment codes for each type of denial, then you can run Practice Analysis to split that all out.
