Electronic UBs with revenue codes only

How can submit revenue codes without CPT codes on an electronic UB?

According to the 837 Institutional regs - Procedure Code is required for outpatient claims when an appropriate procedure code exists for the service line item.
OR
Required for inpatient claims when an appropriate HCPCS (drugs and/or biologics only) or HIPPS code exists for this service line item.
Otherwise, do not send.

In Medisoft, you have to setup the revenue code under the procedure code, so I suppose you can use procedure code set 2 or 3 to blank out the procedure code on those revenue codes that don't have a procedure code.

Are you trying to bill for a supply that doesn't have a procedure code? Normally those don't go on the claim anyway.

I am going to be billing for an Outpatient Substance Abuse facility. BCBS of MI doesn't require CPT codes, but I'm not sure if my clearinghouse will reject a claim if I don't have a CPT code with the revenue code. I just tried your suggestion of blanking out procedure code 2, and it seemed to work. Thanks so much!
