Medisoft v21 and Lytec 2016 Update

Post by Gavin Walker » Tue Dec 08, 2015 6:54 pm

McKesson development has been assessing and sizing choices for the upcoming release.

These updates must be worthwhile for both McKesson and you.

One thing we need input on is what do you think about switching Medisoft to a subscription model. Some of you are already on it, so you might share your experience with it.

McKesson will take the following 3 weeks and fasten down the scope with contribution from you.

I plan to follow this with a full update in January.

If you have flaws or improvement wishes that you would like to petition for addition in a future release, please let me know.

Good Morning Gavin!
My only beef so far with V20 is that the arrow buttons don't work on the date calendar in the bottom right corner!

How exactly does the subscription model work?
Thanks,
Deb

With the subscription, you pay monthly and that comes with ongoing support and software updates as they are released by McKesson.

For subscription, it depends upon how it's structured. If pricing is based upon number of users licensed in Advantage Database or upon number of practices set up in Medisoft, completely against it. I'd rather just pay the upgrade fee as it now stands....Plus want to make sure Medisoft does not go to only a cloud-based option; we want the ability to still run Medisoft locally.

OH, and they should not even consider doing a V21 until they fix the problem with Medisoft Mobile...ridiculous how they advertise it as one of their selling points, and yet they have not even fixed the major problem of the program not working with IOS 9.

Under the current subscription model, the minimum is a 5-user system and then there is a smaller monthly charge to add more users in blocks of 5. There are talks to make a lower-cost Medisoft Advanced subscription option for 1 user. The current subscription model is NOT cloud-based although we DO host Medisoft on the Internet for some customers.

The Apple iOS 9.1 patch has been submitted to Apple already to add it to the App Store. We are all eagerly awaiting their approval of the submission. Keep in mind, the new app only works on iPads, so if you have a newer iPhone, the older Mobile app still won't work.

The important question is what the pricing would be if subscription based. I have a 100 user Advantage license now...I am sure McKesson would make a monthly price astronomical for that many users, whereas paying to upgrade is much cheaper in the long run. So I am completely against going to a subscription model.

Yeah, that would add an additional $475/month to the subscription. Here is what you can do - go with the 5-user subscription and then just purchase the 100-user upgrade every couple of years when it is required.

I don't understand...If I have say 50-60 users logged in at one time on my network, I could not just have a 5-user subscription, right? I would need the 100 user subscription....Are you saying 100 users would be $475/month?? How do they look at it...number of licenses in Advantage OR max number of users logged in at one time?

So a 100-user subscription is currently $724/month. But, you could just do the 5-user subscription and then purchase a 100-user upgrade every couple of years or so when it is required. The retail price of the 100-user upgrade is currently $1,359. You don't have to be too good at math to figure you'll be better off going with the second option.

Medisoft doesn't count users at all. Instead Advantage limits the number of users to the user license count that you purchased. :D

Got it...so if they go to subscription pricing, if I buy a 5-user subscription, I can still have 40-50 users logged in at once since I have purchased already a 100 Advantage license right?? And how much do you think a 5-user subscription will be monthly?

Right, a 5-user is currently $249/month. I haven't heard anything about new pricing for 5 users.

I'm just making sure I understand this. If Medisoft goes to subscription, does that include everyone using Medisoft? After buying the upgrade and installing it on my single machine, how would they regulate the monthly fee? I have Medisoft Advanced, not network and I'm the only user, and if I have to pay $249 a month in order to use it, I will have to find another software program.

Trust me, if McKesson decides that everyone that purchases Medisoft Advanced has to do a subscription, then it will be at a much lower price. $249 is the current monthly price for a Network Pro 5-user subscription. Also, there is talk about doing away with Medisoft Basic, so the price will have to meet in the middle somewhere.

Not at all interested in going to a subscription model.
