Medisoft Network Pro SP1 on 64 bit Vista system

Post by kevinle117 » Wed May 27, 2009 11:53 am

We have couple of new computers with 64 bit Vista on the system, there is no driver support for XP so we need help getting Medisoft to work on it. Office hours won't open with compatibility mode set to XP SP2.

Thanks,

Hi Kevin, what version of Medisoft is this? Go to Help -> About Medisoft to find out. Version 12 sp2 is required for Vista compatibility.

You also will want to get Medisoft v14 sp2. I am working on getting that on our website, but for now you can get that here: LINK REMOVED

To correct Maximum Work Areas, run Advantage Configuration Utility on the server and add the number of work areas you currently have configured plus the number of rejected work areas and double that on the configuration tab. Any other values that have used more than half of their set value should be doubled as well.

The old Medisoft knowledgebase is completely gone now, so I removed the link.

Will this work if I use Vista Ultimate instead of Business? I'm considering an upgrade.

Vista Ultimate or Business will work just fine. There is no need to upgrade to Ultimate unless you want a particular feature in it.

Hi,

Everything turn out ok except for a small problem. Here's my setup for the office.

Emachine Desktop (Vista Business, 32 bit, Server Advantage 8.1, Medisoft 14 SP2, Wired) ----> 2Wire Router ---> HP TouchSmart 524 (Vista Ultimate, 64 bit, Medisoft 14 SP2, Wireless)

Medisoft on HP machine can connect and open but ask \"Create New Data Set or Convert Old Data Set\", Dataset already been created and running fine on the Emachine (Server). What can I do to correct this? It seem like it is not reading the dataset created by the server.

Do I need to upgrade the Server Advantage Database to 9.1? I saw that the latest version but don't know if I need it or not.

Thank you in advance,

Press and hold F7 while starting Medisoft. Browse to the Medidata share you created on the E-Machine. Both machines need to connect through the share. If it was not created as a share from the beginning, then you will need to delete the file MWDBLIST.ADT and Medisoft will recreate it the first time you start up. Then re-add the entry to your practice.

Hi Garvin,

Folder was created and shared before the data on the server was created. What is hold F7 do? Run as Administrator? If yes it is already set to Run as Administrator. When I open the client on the second comp (HP comp), it doesn't ask for data path but it ask if I want to create new dataset or convert. I don't want to overwrite what already on the server in the shared folder.

Thanks,

Holding the F7 key while starting Medisoft will cause it to prompt for a new Medisoft root data folder. All machines must point to the same root data folder. The fact that one machine is prompting to convert tells me it is point to a different data set and possibly the wrong root data folder. Another possibility is it has a different version of Medisoft installed on it.

Hi Gavin,

Thanks, sorry it took so long to reply. I tried to change the root data folder but it didn't work, once it load. I tried to open the practice, it said \"This data doesn't exist, select a different set of data\".

This is the same data folder as the server data folder.

Kevin, I think you are missing a step. If you still can't get it, then we will need a support agreement so we can work with you directly on this.
