How do you send an ICD-9 claim now?

We have switched over to ICD10, but have a claim from September that needs to be resent. All the diagnoses on this claim automatically show up in ICD10, and the claims manager flags it with "Dx Error," which causes the claim to not make it to the RM to be submitted to the payer.

How do I get around this? Thanks.

Are your ICD-10 codes kicking out with an error or just the ICD-9 codes? You can just change the edit status to Passed and continue processing the claim. You can also turn off the Dx edits by going to Configure -> Insurance -> Assign Edits.

If your ICD-10 codes are kicking out, then you might need to run Start -> All Programs -> Revenue Management -> Claims Editor Update Client.

I am trying to enter a claim with DOS in September - As soon as I type the ICD-9 code in and hit <TAB>, the code I just entered goes away and the field is blank. However, the software will let me enter an ICD10 code in the same box, even though the date is prior to 10/1/2015.

I have run Claims Editor Update client, but didn't help.

Is the ICD-9 code setup in your system? Go to Lists -> Diagnosis Codes.

If you right click on the ICD10 that it puts in there and hit edit. Does it have an ICD9 in the ICD9 field? If so it will bill out fine if your insurance is set to ICD10 with Effective date 10/1. It pulls what is in the ICD9 and ICD10 fields for whatever code you put in there. It does not look at the "code" column, that column is just for internal use.

Thank you, that worked. My internal codes are the same as the ICD-10 codes, and that is what must be showing up on the transactions.

To verify, I created a test claim with DOS before the ICD-10 cut over, and took it all the way to validation in RM, and as you said, the ICDs were all ICD-9, even though the transaction screen shows ICD-10 codes.

Thank you for your patience!

Configure is in Revenue Management on the top of the window.
