DATA FILES NOT FOUND

Post by DAVIDGARRELLMD » Thu Oct 08, 2015 9:21 am

The problem we are having is not everyday, it happens sporadically. It can happen today and tomorrow be fine without doing anything different, then can happen again the following day. The problem is as follows. When you click the medisoft program tab to open up the program a tab comes up labeled: Data files not found- the data path has changed or the server is not found. Check the server and retry the connection or change the data path. under these words are 4 icons to click on retry, change data, cancel, and details>> when clicking on details<< it says: Error: 6420 The 'discovery' process for the Advantage Database Server failed. Unable to connect to the Advantage Database Server. axServerConnect our internet nor any other program on our computer are having this issue.

Hoping this message is detailed enough :? Thanks in advance!

Are you connected to the network wifi or any thing like that. Sounds like a network issue if it is sporadic. I would check and make sure only one of the network ports is running if it has two. Also check the stability of network card.

Thanks for the fast reply. Okay, yesterday we changed from wifi to Ethernet outlet to see if the network wifi card was the issue. I believe I lacked to mention that we have two computers the main server and the second one which runs of off that one. This error occurs only on the second computer. All lights on the network port are on, and internet is working. We shut down only the second computer and restarted but no change in error. Being that the first computer is the server should we have shut both down and restarted? The only reason why I ask is because at the end of each day we shut both computers down and today are working properly. I guess we will have to wait it out and see if that fixed the issue or not.

Are there two ports in the one computer? If so make sure only the one being used is on. We have seen where it doesn't know what port to use and will give errors like this.

It could be DNS is not setup right in your office. The client computer is not consistently "seeing" the server computer.

I changed the computer name on my server but then changed it back to its original name when the program would not work. Since then, I have received this message whenever I opened Medisoft (Version 19 with 3 users license):

Error 7078: The Advantage Database server cannot authenticate the user. Make sure the user name and password are correct ax ServerConnect

I am able to open Medisoft and work on my workstation.
However, I am unable to back the program because it says that another user is backing up the program.

If you are unable to backup most likely the backup didnt close all the way. Look in the Medidata folder and find hotbackup.txt. Delete that file. Then try the backup again.
