Medisoft v14 w/ ADS8.1...

Post by Dustin » Mon Jun 22, 2009 11:59 pm

I purchased Medisoft v14 in 2008 before the move to ADS v9...

Anyways, I was planning on upgrading from v11 to v14 soon and I was wondering if there is any reasons I should not use ADS v8.1...

Is it less stable? Will I have more database issues? Is there any reason to buy an ADS v9.0 license before upgrading to Medisoft v14 (Other than I will be ready for a Medisoft v15 upgrade).

The only reason I can think of to go to Advantage v9 is v9 has a 64-bit version available. So if the server you plan to use is 64-bit then Advantage v9 64-bit will make more efficient use of memory and run natively as a 64-bit application. Other than that, Medisoft v14 was not coded to make use of any special features that were added with Advantage v9.

Hey Dustin, I just discovered that Medisoft is coded to only work with the 32-bit version of Advantage.

So, that eliminated the biggest reason I could think of to upgrade. Another nice feature of Advantage v9:

Advantage is no longer limited to the initially configured number of connections, tables, indexes, work areas, and locks. If all the available resources are in use, Advantage will allocate more resources, as opposed to returning an error as it has in the past. The configuration values are no longer maximum values, but used as initial allocation values. Instead of returning errors, Advantage will automatically adjust to handle the new requirements.

This has already saved me quite a few calls that we normally get when people install Advantage on a new server.

can V14sp2 work with ADS8.1

Post by Roselle » Tue Nov 17, 2009 9:11 am

Hello Walker,

We are planning to install Medisoft V14sp2 and are currently using V14 with ADS8.1. Does the V14sp2 requires ADS 9 or can we still work with ADS 8.1

Thanks
Roselle

Medisoft v14 works just fine with ADS v8.1, so there is very little reason to purchase an upgrade to ADS v9.
