Medisoft 20 server and Window 7 or 8 32 bit or 64

Post by araallison » Thu Sep 17, 2015 3:26 pm

Will Medisoft v20 network professional work with 6 other computers without having to go through the hassle of a server etc? What about getting a really good fast computer but where we store it, it's not a workstation. Thoughts?

Does Medisoft work better on Windows 7 or 8? We are buying new computers. Thoughts would be appreciated.

Is it better to get 32 bit or 64 for the server and workstations?

You CAN use a desktop operating system as a Medisoft data host, it is just not recommended. You have to setup a peer-to-peer network and there is no way to centrally administrate all the user accounts. The more workstations you get, the more difficult it gets to administrate the network. If you are running Windows XP or Vista, there is a programmed limit of 10 and even if you have Windows 7 or 8, I wouldn't try to go more than 10 computers on a peer-to-peer network.

We do recommend 64-bit Windows with 8 or more GB RAM on the "server" machine. While Medisoft is a 32-bit app, you can optionally install 64-bit Advantage and use the additional RAM.

Windows 7 or 8 doesn't matter, but we do recommend the Pro edition or higher.

We sell computers that exceed these requirements. Private message me if you are interested.
