Medisoft v20 Upgrade Question

Post by Hulty » Mon Jun 01, 2015 8:09 am

Current system: Medisoft Adv v 19
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro

Upon running the installer downloaded from your website, there appears to be a new option in the traditional install process.

After the welcome screen advising the upgrade to v20, we select "Express Instalation". Next, we are presented with a v19 screen that asks us if we wont to 'REPAIR" or 'REMOVE' medisoft v19 from the computer.

Is this something new?

Thanks

Yes it is. I recommend uninstalling Medisoft v19 through Windows Control Panel first and select the rollback option if presented with that. Work your way backwards through older versions of Medisoft in the reverse order that they were installed in. While you are at it, you can also uninstall anything related to Advantage. Once you have done that, install Medisoft v20. Uninstalling Medisoft, just removes the program and it leaves your data intact. We have found this is the cleanest way to install the next upgrade.

Thanks for the reply. It was the first time I had seen this in a Medisoft installer and paused because I did not want to break anything.

Just want to understand more re. working of Medisoft. Gavin stated:uninstall previous Medisoft version thru Window Control Panel, then install Medisoft v.20. "Uninstalling Medisoft, just removes the program and it leaves your data intact". I thought that when one uninstall Medisoft thru Window Control Panel, all data also go. Can you clarify, Gavin? Thanks.

Our office recently upgraded to Medisoft V20. In transaction entry our transaction lines are showing all of the fields two and three times. We correct it, however once we are out of transaction entry and then go back into it, all the fields show up two and three times again. Thank you, Caryn

Hmm, try reinstalling Medisoft and then right-click on the Medisoft icon and select Run As -> Administrator.

Our Medisoft is on a server at another location. Medisoft V20 was purchased through Medtech and then installed on 7/30/2015. I will have to call our IT person. Thank you.

If I were to take a guess, I would say they have security tightened down too much for Medisoft. It needs full read-write access to \Medisoft\Bin folder as well as the ability to read-write certain registry keys. Since you just purchased Medisoft v20, have your IT call our office if they need help. We'll get it figured out.
