Moving Medisoft from one PC to another

Mr. Walker asked me to post this question here.

One of my clients is getting a new desktop. She runs OfficeHours v4.66 on her PC. I will be moving this from her current Vista desktop to a Windows 8.1 desktop. Is there a guide for installing this software and migrating the data? I would guess that this is a single-user license since she is the only person that runs it.

Keep in mind Office Hours v4.66 does not officially support Windows Vista or Windows 8.1. It may not work with 64-bit O/S. The easy way to move it to a new computer would be to copy the files from the old computer to the new one in the same folder structure as it was on the old machine. So if the executables and data files were in C:\Medisoft on the old computer, then copy them to C:\Medisoft on the new computer and hopefully it will work. The executable file name is OHP.exe (I think).

Gavin,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to this. Due to some MS licensing shenanigans we had to postpone the project. I tried your suggestion for moving the files from the old PC to the new one, but it will not run. Is there a later version of this software that she can upgrade to to resolve this?

EDIT: She will be using a 64 bit Windows 8.1 PC.

Thanks.

She needs to upgrade to version 20.

Is there any way to migrate the data from the old version to the new one?

Yes, there is a utility to convert v4 data to v5 and then from v5 to v6. After that, the data should auto convert. The kicker is those old conversions only work on 32-bit Windows XP. You'll need an old computer to do the initial conversions up to v6. It might be easier just to pay us to convert your Office Hours data for you (select Convert One Database).
