I would start by disabling the anti virus and firewall to see if they are blocking the program. Also many messenger programs have interfered with start up as well. Once Medisoft is started you can usually start the offending program.

The following programs and processes have been found to "hang" mapa.exe so that the cursor loops endlessly and the program fails to open after login on.
ScanToPC.exe (HP printer driver)
Logitech Setpoint (Logitech drivers)
Apple Push Notification (iTunes)
Windows Update (after running auto-update)
Chrome
McAfee
Adobe Reader v8 & 9
Motorola Droid phone sync app
