CMS1500 02/12 Anesthesia Minutes/Units Not Reported Correct

Post by meddkbilling » Thu Mar 27, 2014 3:29 pm

We are having problems with the new CMS1500 02/12. For general anesthesia services we input both the total minutes, as well as the number of units. The number of units is used to calculate the total charge, while the minutes should be reported in box 24g. When printing claims, it is actually printing the units, not the minutes. Claims will be rejected if submit this way.

Is anyone else having this issue, or know how to correct it?

Thanks

Hmm, did you have a custom claim form before? Edit your old claim form using Reports -> Design Custom Reports and Bills and see how you were printing on your claim form template before, and make those customizations again on the new claim form template.

Previous form version was set to print minutes for all charges in box 24g. We would put 1 minute and 1 unit in any charges where we wanted to bill 1 unit, an obviously messy workaround.

New form needs to print minutes for general anesthesia codes, but units for all other codes.

I have a call in to my vendor to help with this, and I suppose I can just use the same sorry excuse for a fix if I have to print paper claims on the new form before I hear back from my vendor.
