Overapplied/Unapplied payment error on Patient Aging

Post by ALI » Thu Dec 26, 2019 4:24 pm

Sos!
I'm working my Patient aging by date of service and see that my plus 91 is astronomical.

There are many accounts that show a balance in the plus 91 day column but underneath it the very same amount is noted as Overapplied or Unapplied. And the balance should be zero in this column.

For example: patient has a current balance of 728.44. In the over 91 day column, it shows a balance of 2631.56 and underneath that it shows a line item stating 2631.56 is Overapplied/Unapplied, showing the total account balance of 3360.00. Now, the patient only owes 728.44 and that is the balance on the account. How do I get this corrected so that my Aging reports are correct?

Thanks! Ali

In order to get amounts to drop off the Aging Reports, you have to apply the payments properly. There is a Write Off Utility to zero all these amounts off, but don't run it 'til you upgrade to version 24 because there are bugs in it.

Well, I believe I have applied the payments properly. They were applied thru revenue management, electronically.
Isn't there anyway to fix this with version 22?
When I run a detailed Insurance aging the amounts are correct, which is interesting.....

Now this is interesting. Today I ran the Patient Aging by Date of Service. The report is completely accurate. The only thing I can think of is that the payments were recorded as 12-27 but the date I applied the payment was 12-26. I guess I will be careful about this in the future! Is this what you meant by posting the payments correctly?
thanks and Happy New Year!

The "As Of" date you run the aging report for makes a difference.
