My patient document software company went online into my computer server to fix it, yet to be seen, and since I am getting error 6420 on the workstations only. Medisoft runs fine from the server and advantage database is running on the server. Any reason I would be getting 6420 if advantage is running anf Medisoft works from the server? Not sure what this company did. Thanks

Make sure you can use file manager and go to the medidata. Are you able to see the medidata from the workstations. Also check any firewalls and AntiViruses cause they can block Medisoft as well. Be sure to check them on Server and workstations.

I had to have a software company go on line in my server and fix my patient documentation software. After they got out, Medisoft won't start up and I get the 6420 server error.

I checked if the files were still shared along with permissions, they were. I can see them and copy to and from from the wkstn.

The firewall and defender is off on server and wkstn.

The advantage database is running. It wasn't when they got done and I tried to start Medisoft and first got the error, don't know if that matters and causes a file locking problem.

My IP addresses were dynamic and worked before this but changed to dynamic.

This happened before when upgrading to Win 10 and the above fixed it but not now.

If you know of a simple solution, please let me know, otherwise should I call in for support?

The IP address of the server needs to be fixed.If you changed any IP settings on the server, then restart Advantage on the server.

Both wkstn and server is static, restarted both and advantage is running but 6420 error. Can run Medisoft from server but not wkstn. I can see and copy to and from wkstn to server data files.
Any idea?

It is now working. Set wkstn to dynamic IP and server to static IP. Don't know why now working as prior every PC set to dynamic and never a problem. Should all PC be set to dynamic?

It is working but if the server restarts, I have to go in and stop ads, then restart it, then Medisoft will work but not upon boot up of the server without doing this. Any reason why, did not have to do before?

Try putting the ADS service to delayed start and see if that helps.

I looked in both the architect and configuration utility and did not see any place to delay start up, where would that be? Also where is the tab to launch on startup?

ADS Service in windows Services.

I went into task manager, services, and advantage and changed it to delayed startup. Will let you know what happens.

I suddenly started getting the error 6420 on all client computers. Works fine on the server computer albeit a bit slow. I guess some windows10 upate yesterday.

I have already tried-
The Norton Firewall/Windows defender don't seem to be blocking and have both ADS and Mapa passthroughs. Even disabling firwalls don't work
The UDP tester on the specific port works fine, both send and Listen
Able to make database connection from client through the ARC, but unable to connect from Medisoft client
Added ADS.ini to no effect
Also put Advantage service on delayed start, still no resolution

Any help will be appreciated. Gavin I did try to reach out to you yesterday.

Make sure the network connection on all computers are either domain or private. No public networks.
