ICD-10 mapping

Is there a way to use the mapping tool to create ICD-10 codes, but not to map them to ICD-9 codes? I don't want Medisoft changing the code that's in the transaction entry window to a different code when the claim is submitted (even if I am sending an ICD-10 when it should be an ICD-9). I'm using Medisoft Advanced version 19 sp. 1.

The mapping gets your ICD9 code and creates an ICD10 code for you. It does not overwrite or change the existing codes.

But, if I enter a ICD-10 code in the transaction entry window, but the insurance carrier is designated as effective for ICD-9, Medisoft does change the ICD-10 code to a mapped ICD-9 code on outgoing claims.

The ICD 10 codes that are created have spots for ICD9 codes and ICD10 codes. It down codes to the code that was entered in the field it has for ICD9. There can be multiple ICD10 codes downgraded to a single ICD9. They all have that ICD9 in that field within the code itself. Are you not wanting it to down code at all. I am not sure why you would want to not down code. You could just set the insurance to ICD10 so it would send the ICD10 instead.
