Converted data balances

When using a converted data case in our system, (a returning patient for instance) the balance may show zero then once data is entered it ends up with a balance that doesn't make any sense. It seems to be getting old data from a table that I do not have access too and adding it to the new account total. If I just do a balance adjustment and take it off then the balance and account totals do not line up and it results in an incorrect statement to the patient.
