Submitting claims under Provider's SS#

Hi Gavin!
So we are trying to submit some claims dated back from JUly'12 to Medicare (TX), and at that time, this doc did NOT have a TAX ID?? The previous billing company that he had were able to get his claims paid using his social security.

So... We tried submitting these old claims through Availity via Medisoft and got them rejected stating that a TAX ID is required.

He now has a TAX ID (which now he is under a group NPI), but prior to September'2012, he was billing with his individual NPI and SS#.

Can you give me advise on how to submit these claims throught Medisoft WITHOUT Availity rejected them with his SS#? We have changed on the Practe IDs tab to his social security instead of his current TAX ID, and changed to 'individual' on Practice Type and 'person' on Entity Type as well.

We just don't know what to do now :(

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Belinda

You probably need to call Medicare directly about this one.

Well, you will have to be enrolled with Medicare to submit claims under the SS# through Availity. That is probably not setup so your best bet will be to call and see if you can get a waiver to submit these on paper. Who knows, maybe your previous billing service was submitting these on paper as well.
