New patient info not saving

Post by Carrie » Wed Apr 18, 2012 10:52 am

When I enter a new patient into Medisoft it isn't saving anything in the "case" section. I enter all the "chart" info, then input as much info as I can in the "case" section and hit save. it shows up at first, but if I move on to another patient and come back to the new one everything I had saved in the "case" is gone and needs to be re-entered. Why would this be happening? I didn't have this problem in my previous version (10).
Thanks for any help!

Are you using Patient Quick Entry? What version and service pack of Medisoft do you have?

Oh, guess that info would help, lol. We recently upgraded to Version 17 from Version 10. Still learning all the small differences. And i don't know about the patient quick entry, just entering how we sed to in V10.

I still wonder if you are using Patient Quick Entry. Go to Program Options -> Data Entry tab and make sure the two boxes for Quick Entry are unchecked. If you don't understand and know how to setup Quick Entry, it can be confusing.

I don't have an option for Patient Quick Entry when I go through that. Should it be in my Version 17 SP 2 program? The only thing I have in that data entry tab concerning patients is "use numeric chart numbers" and "auto format SS Number"

OK, then you must have the Basic Edition of Medisoft which does not have Quick Entry. I don't know how you can click Save and then go back to the same case # and find your information missing. Are you getting any error messages? You will probably need a Medisoft technician to take a look at your system to see what is going on. If you recently purchased your Medisoft v17, you might have support left from your purchase.

No error message, just the info not being there. Once I enter charges it seems to be fine and everything remains saved.

Try backing up your data and then run file maintenance. Rebuild all indexes, pack all tables, and recalculate all balances.

In the transaction window, if there are no charges entered yet, the case does not show up. If you click on the case arrow on top, you'll see the created case and can click on it. It took me a while to figure this out!

Try going into File -> Program Options -> Data Entry Tab.

For the option Case Default, select Newest Case. Click Save and then reopen Transaction Entry to see if it works better.

Just want to let you know I got this figured out! dkennelly, I also eventually figured out exactly what you said, and Gavin, I just did what you suggested so we'll see if that makes a difference, too.
Thanks for the help!
