Medisoft Service Pack 2 recently became available, which includes changes to the installers to reduce the install time to an average of around three hours. For Lytec, Service Pack 1 is still being tested and the same results are expected. McKesson's product director, Tony, also showed a new system monitoring tool called “Watchdog.†This tool has helped solve several issues with Communications Manager and PP Connect. It is viewed as a stop-gap measure while a replacement strategy is developed.
Areas of focus for the coming year are as follows:

• Create an easy methodology for configuring and maintaining interfaces (labs, devices, HL7 etc.)

Finally, McKesson product management discussed was the need to move all billing and e-prescribing customers to Practice Partner 9.5.2, due to be GA in August, because it is the ANSI 5010 release.
