Practice Partner 9.5.1 Now Generally Available

Post by Gavin Walker » Mon May 02, 2011 8:40 pm

We are pleased to announce the general availability of McKesson’s Practice Partner® version 9.5.1., certified* as a complete electronic health record (EHR) system under the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) Authorized Testing and Certification Body (ATCB) process.

This version is Surescripts certified and features many enhancements to McKesson's e-prescribing module including a summary screen which allows physicians to see when the prescription has been transmitted and a status column to see when it is delivered. The enhancements also allows physicians to preview a prescription prior to submitting the prescription and automatic pharmacy additions where physicians can send a prescription to a pharmacy that is not currently in the database without manual transmission. For benefits, the new version also allows for modification of formulary and benefit information to expand information for alternative and non-formulary benefit information. All of the enhancements made were to help physicians improve the way they prescribe to patients.

Version 9.5.1 also includes an updated set of templates by long time Practice Partner user Dr. Jaron Fischbeck. These clinical content templates focus on optimizing workflow and minimizing disruption and feature new clinical elements and quick text that can be merged into the templates you may currently be using. The templates include the clinical assessment workflow to assist in triaging a patient into the appropriate next stage of clinical care.

We are encouraging all of our customers to move to version 9.5.1. As a reminder, you need to upgrade to either version 9.4 or 9.4.1 before moving to v9.5.1. Medisoft Clinical and Lytec MD do not currently contain Practice Partner v9.5.1. The inclusion of Practice Partner v9.5.1 functionality in Medisoft Clinical and Lytec MD is planned for early summer**.

*The certification number is CC-1112-589589-1. ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 certification conferred by CCHIT does not represent an endorsement of the certified EHR technology by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services nor does it guarantee the receipt of incentive payments. The 2011/2012 criteria support the Stage 1 meaningful use measures required to qualify eligible providers and hospitals for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

The clinical quality measures to which Practice Partner Version v9.5.1 has been certified include: NQF 0421, NQF 0013, NQF 0028, NQF 0041, NQF 0024, NQF 0038, NQF 0059, NQF 0064, and NQF 0061.

The additional software that Practice Partner relied upon to demonstrate compliance includes: Windows Server® 2008 Server which includes BitLocker® and IPSec for 170.302(u) & 170.302(v); Surescripts Messenger™ Services for 170.304(b) & 170.302(b); Medi-Span® for 170.302(e) & 170.302(a); AMA’s CPT® codes for 170.302(d), 170.304(e) & 170.304(a); and RelayClinical™ Education for 170.302(m).
