Installation Issues with Latest Practice Partner 9.5.2

Post by Gavin Walker » Mon Nov 21, 2011 12:32 pm

There is a problem with the .ini files in the latest service pack for Practice Partner (9.5.2 SP1) that affects the latest service packs for Medisoft and Lytec (Medisoft Version 17 Service Pack 2.1 and Lytec 2011 Service Pack 1.1). These paths will be fixed in SP3 for Medisoft and SP2 for Lytec. In the meantime, there are two options for a short-term fix.

Option 1 – getting the Desktop icon to match the one in Start Menu:
  • Medisoft: Delete the Desktop shortcut for “Medisoft Clinical Patient Records,” then go to the Start Menu->All Programs->McKesson->Medisoft Clinical-> select Medisoft Clinical, hold down the Ctrl key (this way it will COPY instead of MOVE) and drag it to the Desktop. Now the correct shortcut is in both places. (This step can be used for replacing the Medisoft Clinical Zoom icon as well)

Lytec: Delete the Desktop shortcut for “LytecMD Patient Records,” then go to the Start Menu->Programs->McKesson->Lytec MD-> select Lytec MD hold down the Ctrl key (this way it will COPY instead of MOVE) and drag it to the Desktop. Now the correct short cut is in both places. (This step can be use for replacing the Lytec MD Zoom icon as well)
Option 2 – leave the icons as they are now; only run from the Start Menu if you want to get updated patches (SPECIAL NOTE: If going with Option 2, LAUNCH from the Start Menu after the Service Pack 1 updater runs TO GET UPDATE PATCHES)

UPDATE on Installation Issues with Latest Practice Partner 9

Post by Gavin Walker » Wed Nov 23, 2011 9:37 am

.ini Files. The 9.5.2 SP1 caused the Medisoft Clinical and Lytec MD .ini files to be overwritten. This affected the DemSch_Rcv and BillCode_Snd .ini files. There is a hot fix to reset the Medisoft Clinical and Lytec MD files back to the appropriate settings after the service pack is applied. This hot fix was distributed by Seattle on November 22. When Medisoft Clinical or Lytec MD is launched via the updater, the updater will apply the patch automatically.

There is a separate PPConnect update (plus a special one to use if yours is LabCorp). You can order a disk from McKesson. Then you'll need to double check the .INI files listed above. Recommend backing up your lab sub-folder before installing the PPConnect update.

Well as to be half expected... issues..

Stuck at "applying settings" on my main server now... appears avantage is running (clients are connected)..

looks like this is going to take a 'hard' reset to go forward.. any advice first?

Have everyone exit Medisoft, Office Hours, and Practice Partner. Stop Communication Manager or Watchdog if you have that running. Then wait and see if "applying settings" ever finishes. Use Advantage Configuration Utility on the server to verify that everyone is out.
