Medicare claim forms

Post by SHIREEN » Mon Sep 26, 2016 4:09 pm

I have just received MC number and I am ready to bill Medicare.
Under Medicare insurance carrier I checked 'type' as MC. Claims did not show secondary insurance on the form. When I check 'other' for Medicare, secondary insurance shows on claim. What am I doing wrong? I need both Medicare check on upper right hand check box, plus secondary insurances to be printed on claims. Thanks,

What version of Medisoft do you have and which claim report template are you using?

Basic v20. Using a version of primary 1500 (02-12)
I had to get a copy of your alignment instructions but other than that works great for every other insurance. Like I said check 'other' type in MC insurance listing and secondary insurance will print on Medicare claim, but check 'medicare' type and secondaries do not print on Medicare claim form.
Do you think using primary format claim form is the issue? Or does Medicare no longer require secondary insurance information on the claim?

I have come to the conclusion that secondary insurance information just does not print on Medicare claim forms in this version of Medisoft. I have tried everything to no avail. It has been a long time since I have done billing, but I do remember the secondary insurance info on Medicare claims, maybe it is no longer required.

My guess is Medicare no longer requires secondary insurance on the paper form because that is usually Medigap or Medicaid and Medicare already knows about the secondary insurance and will automatically do a crossover claim. If you find out something different, let me know.

OK will see what happens. This will also answer my last post on Medigap info on paper claims. Thank You, very valuable service you are offering here.
