icd10 mapping is not filled in

Post by parkschoolchiro » Mon Sep 28, 2015 10:43 am

I have gone through the steps to create icd10 mapping, yet when I look under diagnostic codes, mappings have not been created for icd10, all I have showing is icd9. This is ver. 20 medisoft, and if I try to re-create (under tools, services, create mappings), all the one-to-one mappings are blank, because I have already done them! Is there something I have not set up in the s/w which is keeping my icd10 codes from showing? Thanks!

Make sure when in Dx list you have ICD10 codes check marked. Also sort by ICD10 code. The ICD9s will remain blank. What the mappings does is create a new code for the ICD10s. It has the ICD9 in those new ten codes. The reason it leaves the ICD9 alone is there may be multiple ICD10's for 1 ICD9. I hope this helps.

Not sure why that worked, but it did. Thanks Andrew.

On my transaction screen, it is still bringing in my old DSM codes. When I view my diag codes under list, it shows my DSM-V codes, ICD-9 codes and ICD-10 codes. If I change the 'sort' from code to ICD9 all still shows, if I change to ICD10 then it doesn't show anything. There is a check mark in the partial match box also

Also, when I went through mappings, it was showing some codes, but shows nothing.

Am I missing something??

Use the mapping tool and go through the entire process to generate you ICD-10 codes. When you are done, there should be anything displayed in there except for the codes you don't want to generate any ICD-10 codes for.

Question:
once all mapping is done and list in diagnosis is sorted by icd10 etc.--- I thought that when you go to input a transaction that the new ICD 10 dx will automatically populate, but the old ICD9 is in there (in red) (even with the date as 10/1/15) Do I have to go into the patient's case and change the dx from the case to the ICD 10 diagnosis? I thought that ICD10 would automatically populate in the transaction window Thanks

It will not automatically populate the transaction entry screen. If you look at the code you put in it will send the ICD10 field. It cannot up code from ICD9 to 10. There are cases where there are multiple ICD10s and this would not work. If you put in an ICD10 it will drop it to a 9 if needed.

I guess what I am trying to insure is that, after I finished the mapping, do I need to change the patients diagnosis to the ICD 10 in the case window in order to have it automatically populate in the transaction entry window? I probably could also just bring in the ICD 10 from transaction, but I was hoping that the mapping would have done this for me, to alleviate extra key strokes.

It wont up code from 9 to 10 automatically you will have to select the ICD10, at least select the code that has an ICD10 in the ICD10 column.
