ICD-10: Are You Prepared?

Post by Gavin Walker » Wed Mar 18, 2015 2:31 pm

With October 1, 2015 just a few months away, it is vital to do a self appraisal of your readiness for an effective changeover to ICD-10. This will be a major adjustment and it is crucial to be ready. There are numerous subjects that must be covered, from software versions to in-house preparation and workflow to testing.

Ask yourself these questions:
1. Are you upgraded to the ICD-10 compatible software version?
  • a. For Practice Partner®, this is version 11.0
    b. For Medisoft®, this is either v19 or v20
    c. For Lytec®, this is either Lytec 2014 or Lytec 2015
    d. For all other software packages, please confirm ICD-10 conformity

2. Have you finished the obligatory build and analysis in planning for ICD-10?
  • a. Revise and mapping of problem catalog
    b. Updates to ICD-10 records
    c. Updates to templates and analysis of every one
If the response to both questions is ‘yes’, then cheers! You are undertaking the actions required to produce an effective changeover to ICD-10 all through your workplace.

If the response to the first question is ‘no’, now is the time to upgrade to the ICD-10 compatible version. There are actions that will must be finished post-upgrade and this must be constructed into the timeline, so do not delay til the final second to do this first significant action.
