I am looking for some assistance with "incident to" and billing medicare. Does anyone have any knowledge about the billing process or currently have practices in place for billing for these situations? I need to find out what way the visits are billed and where the option to change the NPI\provider is located during the process. I also have a few other questions and I wanted to check to see if anyone could talk about it! Thanks so much!! :?:

Typically, the physician would perform the first visit and then the non-physician provider would perform the procedures that they are qualified to do under the supervision of an employer physician on the subsequent visits. The physician must be in the same building and able to assist if necessary.

Within the medical billing system is there a way to differentiate the service being provided by the PA?

Well on a CMS-1500 form there is a billing provider and rendering provider for each line item and these do not have to be the same provider. So whatever billing system you are using, there "should" be a way to specify a different provider for each.
