Aetna Claims Bulletin: Sending Attachments Causes Delays

Post by Gavin Walker » Wed Sep 10, 2008 12:02 pm

Aetna has asked us to share the following message with our customers:

Save time and money by not sending attachments with your claims! Did you know you can send all of your claims electronically? You can — even those for which you think we need supporting documentation.

Claims with any kind of attachments must be manually reviewed. This adds time to the approval and payment processes. And, may mean extra work for you.

We’ll let you know if we need more information in order to process a claim
  • • Progress notes for therapy services are seldom required. If we need them, we’ll contact you with specific instructions.

    • Paper copies of referrals aren’t necessary. Our system automatically compares your electronic claim with data in our referral system. If there is a match, the claim is quickly processed.

    • When code \"MA18\" appears on a Medicare explanation of payment, Medicare has automatically forwarded the claim to us.
Make it easier on yourself and submit all claims electronically. You’ll receive faster payments, and spend less time and money on administrative tasks.
