Box 29 on form 1500 and Payment field

Post by Premierptdallas » Sat Oct 20, 2012 4:05 am

OK help me out here.
We are trying to resubmit a claim to medicare that was only partially paid because of a billing error on our end. Medicare has told us that we must resubmit the claim but the claim must reflect the payment that has been made. Fine.
I entered the payments in Medisoft and it reflects the payments in the "Insurance 1 Amount Paid" field.
I try to print out the claim on form 1500 but box 29 is blank.
Medisoft help says:

"Box 29
Amount paid. Note: If payments are not applied during transaction entry, the amount printed in this box is unpredictable. This information comes from the Transaction Entry window, Payment field."

Ok so I go back to transactions and don't see a "Payment Field". I add the field and it just shows an amount of 0.00
I try to enter an ammount manually It shows the ammount I entered but when I click on save transactions it dissapears. I enter a new payment transaction just to test and see if it appiles to the Payment field, It just appies it to the Insurance 1 field.

Help

We are using medisoft V17 SP1 (17.1.2.128)

You will have to modify one of the existing CMS-1500 report templates to include the payments because none of the standard reports in Medisoft includes the amount paid in box 29. This can be done under Reports -> Design Custom Reports and Bills.

Yep. I just figured that out last night. I modified the 1500 form and it works pretty well.

This leads me to a follow up question. Our claim takes several pages. Is there a way to make the claim NOT print the total on each page and have it ONLY print the grand total on the last page?

thanks

Are you doing a Calculated Sum field on Transaction.Any Patient Payment? Each claim form page should be able to stand alone as its own claim. So this total should give you the total payments for that page which would be correct.
