Medicare Part B Claims Will Reject When There is No NPI

Post by Gavin Walker » Fri Feb 29, 2008 1:44 am

Beginning March 1, 2008, Medicare Part B claims will reject if the NPI number in the primary provider fields (billing provider or rendering provider) is missing.

Effective March 1, 2008, error messages will be changed from ‘INFORMATIONAL’ to ‘CLAIM DELETE’ If you currently receive Informational error messages on your EDI reports, your claims are being submitted without an NPI in the primary provider fields.
