CMS Issues Temporary Moratorium on New HETS 270/271 Users

Post by Gavin Walker » Fri Nov 02, 2007 8:23 am

Effective October 12, 2007, CMS enacted a temporary moratorium on all new customers signing up for the HIPAA Eligibility Transaction System (HETS). This moratorium is in effect until further notice. New applications for HETS 270/271 access will not be accepted and new eligibility Submitter ID numbers will not be issued during the moratorium.

Current and active HETS 270/271 submitters will be able to retain their current access. However, clearinghouse submitters will be required to cease enrolling new customers immediately.

For more information, go to www.cms.hhs.gov or use the following link to read the CMS announcement: http://www.cms.hhs.gov/HETSHelp/

We request that you do not submit any new eligibility submitter forms at this time due to the possibility that CMS may require additional information on new enrollment forms. In addition, Medisoft has discovered programming changes that must be made in order to submit NPI-compliant transactions. Medisoft's development team is presently working to make those changes as quickly as possible. However, we regret to inform you that until the development and testing processes are complete, Medicare eligibility transaction 270 requests will be rejected. This change goes into effect as of today November 1, 2007.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you. We will issue an update as soon as one is available.

Medicare Enrollment Eligibility Update

Post by Gavin Walker » Sun Nov 11, 2007 10:33 am

As we have previously communicated, Medicare has announced a moratorium on eligibility enrollments. As a result of Medicare's attempt to resolve concerns with the eligibility system, they are implementing new requirements for vendor 270 submission to their system.

These new requirements may currently be causing some of you to temporarily lose service to the Medicare eligibility system. Medisoft is actively working to resolve this situation as quickly as possible. They hope to have complete resolution by the 2nd week in December.

As additional information becomes available, we will be sure to communicate any change in status.
